I used to be able to put some drops in at night and I was good to go. Eventually, I needed to switch to a different type of drops (gel drops) in order to combat dry eye overnight. Then I began having to reapply drops during the night, then use ointment, and even that wasn’t good enough.
The next solution? Moisture chamber glasses are supposed to be good. That’s not in my budget just yet, so for now I’m using a temporary fix: swim goggles.
Be careful, though. You don’t want to wear them tight like you would if you were swimming, as I’m sure that suction for eight hours or so would be bad for your eyes and your face. This is particularly true if you have glaucoma, as it could raise your eye pressure.
Keep the goggles somewhat loose — adjust so they protect your eyes without harming them. (And get real moisture chamber glasses when you’re able, which are made for long-term use overnight.)
Other solutions: use a cool mist humidifier right next to your bed and keep any fans off your face. You can also use a heated mask.
